چکیده
The Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) is one of the most-used parameters from sleep study that allows assessing both severity obstructive apnea and reliability new devices methods. However, in many cases, it compared with a reference only via correlation coefficient, or this value at least most emphasized. In paper, we discuss limitations such an approach list several alternative quantitative qualitative techniques, along their interpretations. We propose assessment clinical significance statistical one. Qualitative analysis can be used for purpose, suggest using ranking function which enables consideration various AHI values different weights. It reliable adult-related pediatric studies. dedicated Shiny web application, written R, was developed to enable quick physicians statisticians.

Effect of the definition of hypopnea on apnea/hypopnea index.
The objective of this study was to determine whether different decreases in oxygen saturation (SaO2) or the presence of electroencephalographic arousals (EEGA) in the definition of hypopnea modify hypopnea index and apnea/hypopnea index and the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). A total of 20 polysomnographies performed in patients with OSAHS were analyzed. There a...
متن کاملMean apnea–hypopnea duration (but not apnea–hypopnea index) is associated with worse hypertension in patients with obstructive sleep apnea
To determine which polysomnography parameters are associated with severity of hypertension. This retrospective study collected data on all patients admitted to our urban, academic center in Beijing with hypertension who had undergone polysomnograms (PSG) and were diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) (apnea-hyponea index [AHI] ≥5/hour). We then compared polysomnographic parameters (AHI, o...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) is overwhelmingly used as the main therapeutic metric in the assessment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in surgical studies. However, using AHI as the sole measure is problematic. This study investigates the utility of other outcome measures for patients with OSA undergoing surgery. STUDY DESIGN Systematic review of cohort and review studi...
